Playsuits, jumpsuits and rompers have become massively popular in last few years. What was once a selective trend is now worn by celebrities and consumers alike. Wearing a jumpsuit, playsuit or romper is super easy and can be dressed up or down. If you’re unsure as to which one may be most suitable for you, take a look at our guide to the hottest trend in fashion.
Jumpsuits
A jumpsuit is an item of clothing that incorporates a top and trousers in one. Jumpsuits can be worn on a number of occasions whether formal or informal. When it comes to choosing a jumpsuit it’s important to find one with the correct fit for your shape. Jumpsuits that are too tight are not only uncomfortable but can be highly unflattering.
If they’re too big, they can swamp your shape of make you look bigger than you actually are. Look for one that accentuates the waist, perhaps with colour or a belt. Also look at pant length and shape. If your pear shaped or curvy, go for styles that have wider legs in order to help balance your shape. When you’re wearing one for evening, shopping or special occasions make sure it’s easy to remove as you’ll need to be able to undo it easily if you need a toilet break.
Playsuits
Playsuits are a short sleeved top and shorts all in one. However, some brands may class playsuits and jumpsuits as the same. When it comes to playsuits, some styles may look like lingerie and some may look a little sportier. Like jumpsuits you can wear them for both informal and formal occasions, though playsuits are perhaps best suited for summer unless you would like to wear them with tights.
Petite playsuits are best suited to shorter shapes and those with a smaller bust and waist. If you’re looking for a playsuit to suit your shape, avoid fabric that’s too tight or clingy. If you’re curvy, look for playsuits that have slightly longer shorts. Also, consider buying a size up – if it looks too baggy then stick to your size but buying a size up can flatter your shape and keep you cool if you’re wearing it in hot weather.
Rompers
A romper is similar to a jumpsuit and playsuit in that it incorporate a top and bottom in one. Some may call them ‘onesies’. Some brands may consider rompers to be for children only, whereas other brands may consider rompers and playsuits to be the same type of garment. When it comes to wearing a romper, its best to wear one with a slightly loose fitting to make it comfortable to wear.
Similarly to jumpsuits and playsuits, you could wear a belt to accentuate your waistline or pair with a jacket or kimono in slightly cooler weather. Rompers look great paired with sandals or with heels if you’re considering wearing a romper to a more formal occasion. You could also accessorise with a hat, jewellery and scarf in order to make your outfitextra stylish!
