Now that spring is here, it is time to embrace the styles that are popular this season. There are some fabulous looks that will take you right through until the end of the summer, so listen up as this is the lowdown on what you should look for in the shops. Spring and summer 2013 is all about being bold, interesting, and feminine; all will be explained as you read on:
Bold colours
Strong blue, beautiful orange and bright red – these are all on the palette this year.
Orange makes a great statement colour. It is mainly used as a highlight on your outfit but used massively in your accessories. There is a dress by Andrea Moore with a floral print, some of which are a gorgeous fruity orange shade; she also has a bag and belt in a similar hue which would really bring the whole outfit together.
Blue is really timeless and can be worn throughout the whole year. In the spring and summer it is great to use as a theme for your outfit, just seek out different shades. For example you could wear a navy blue jacket with royal blue cropped trousers, and then pair it with white sandals and a white top underneath the jacket.
Red is excellent for showing your fiery side, so you may want to run with this or just go for subtle hints. A scarlet dress can look lovely for a dinner date, but a bold red belt on a monochrome outfit can look just as playful.
Feminine lace
Now you’ve got the colours of the season in mind, you’ll be able to explore the pieces that you can use them in. Lace is massive right now so have a look at what suits your style and body shape. The good thing about lace is that it can be used all over, just on the sleeves, or a nice detailing on the neckline. Look out for dresses and delicate tops that provide a feminine effect.
Flirty florals
Another huge trend this season is floral prints and stitching. You can certainly find key pieces with the colours mentioned above that incorporate florals too. It’s on dresses, skirts, jackets and tops so you’ll be able to find a print that you like. There is everything from ditsy florals to big prints so it is up to you how big of a statement you make.
Graphic prints
If you are not into flowers or lacey numbers, you might be more interested in some of the awesome graphic prints that are out right now. Think of geometric shapes with little bursts of colour and you’ll be on the right track. There are beautiful tops that incorporate monochrome effects but by using navy blue instead of black; it looks fabulous with white. You’ll be able to wear these items in the office and on the weekend so it is very versatile in your wardrobe.
