Your choice of colour to wear to an occasion is strongly guided by the season in which the event is taking place. Spring and summer events are a great time to wear pastel colours. These include shades such as lime, lemon yellow, peach, lavender and pale blue. These may make you think of old people but they’ve come back and there are loads of fantastic designers using these colours. Jewel tones and darker shades are ideal for autumn and winter parties and occasions; scarlet, emerald, purple, sapphire and metallic such as copper are fantastic choices. Neutral colours, including white, beige, taupe and sand, are good choices all year-round.Another important consideration when looking at the type of event and the style of dress is the dress’s functionality. If the event is a dinner, it is important to have a style and cut that will let you sit comfortably for a long period of time. If it is a dance or wedding, choose a dress that moves well and is comfortable and not constricting. For this purpose, it’s a great idea to become friends with some of the staff in your favourite shops. They will know what’s coming in and when the best times to buy are so if you can plan ahead a little you’ll end up with the right piece at the right price. It’s a good idea to wear neutral or pastel shades for modelling auditions because agents aren’t looking for the brightest or most extravagantly dressed, they’re really just looking at the individuals for character and physical looks.
Footwear
With summer fast approaching already, it’s probably time to think about a pair of flat sandals that let your feet breathe easy. Opt for sandals with simple, strappy designs in black or tan leather-look finishes. They are more polished than your flip-flops but they can be also comfortable. Look for sandals with embellished or plaited details for something different when going to model agencies auditions. Again, flats are great for fashion modelling castings as they don’t manipulate your height. Finally, tall boots are essential shoes for your autumn and winter wardrobes. They look super polished and protect you from the elements. Boots in tan, brown, or black colours are your best choice so go for simple, fuss-free designs, because they’re the ones that tend to be a bit more timeless. It’s difficult to find the right boots, but once you have found them there will be no looking back.
